The story behind SecureYourParent

SecureYourParent exists because families often don't realize what is missing until they are already under pressure.

I built SecureYourParent to create a structured way for families to see where things currently stand — and leave with a written record they can keep, update, and share.

Most families don't lack information. They lack visibility.

Important accounts, documents, responsibilities, and decisions often live in different places, with different people, and inside assumptions nobody realizes they are making.

Everything can seem fine until an illness, emergency, death, identity-theft incident, or major life transition forces the family to figure it out quickly.

SecureYourParent was created to help make those assumptions visible before families are under pressure.

Why I built this

I'm Jake Silverstein, founder of SecureYourParent.

I kept seeing the same pattern: families were not struggling because they were careless. They were struggling because important information was scattered, undocumented, or known by only one person.

By the time everyone realized what was missing, they were already dealing with a stressful situation.

I built SecureYourParent to create a structured way for families to step back, see where things currently stand, and leave with a written record they can keep, update, and share.

Why Reviews instead of software?

Most tools are designed to store information.

SecureYourParent is designed to reveal what information is missing.

A live Review can surface things a static checklist often misses:

  • Accounts nobody remembered clearly
  • Responsibilities resting mostly on one person
  • Important records that may not be easy to find
  • Identity-protection steps that were assumed to be handled
  • Family members operating from different assumptions

The Review creates clarity. The Clarity Report creates a record.

My background

I volunteer as an AARP Digital Fraud Fighter and spend significant time educating people about identity theft, scams, and consumer-protection systems.

SecureYourParent is informed by that work, but it is independent. It is not affiliated with AARP, any government agency, financial institution, identity-verification provider, or identity-monitoring company.

What SecureYourParent is not

SecureYourParent is not:

  • × Legal advice
  • × Financial planning
  • × Estate planning
  • × Tax advice
  • × Identity monitoring
  • × Credit repair
  • × A government service

The purpose is clarity, organization, and visibility.

How a Review works

Each Review is a guided conversation.

You stay in control of your own information. SecureYourParent does not ask for passwords, Social Security numbers, account access, documents, screen sharing, or remote control.

After the Review, you receive a personalized Clarity Report: a written picture of where things stand based on what was discussed.
